    1550 – Death of Sir Francis Bryan “the Vicar of Hell” .He was an English courtier and diplomat during the reign of Henry VIII. He was Chief Gentleman of the Privy chamber and Lord Chief Justice of Ireland.Unlike many of his contemporaries, Bryan always retained Henry's favour, achieving this by altering his opinions to conform to the king's.His lack of principle at the time of his cousin Anne Boleyn's downfall led to his earning the nickname "the Vicar of Hell"

  • 27 January 1510 – Death of Sir Thomas Brandon, soldier, courtier and diplomat.He was from a Lancastrian family, the son of William Brandon of Southwark and Elizabeth Wingfield , daughter of Sir Robert Wingfield of Letheringham, Suffolk. He was uncle to Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk. His brother, William, was killed at the battle of Bosworth defending the standard of the future Henry VII. A contemporary manuscript speaks of Sir Thomas as having ‘greatly favoured and followed the party of Henry, earl of Richmond.’
